NIA stands for National Investigation Agency. It is India’s national-level counter-terrorism investigation agency and works under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The agency investigates serious cases related to terrorism, national security, insurgency, explosives, terror funding and offences that have wider national impact.

NIA salary depends on the post. A Sub Inspector, Inspector, Assistant Sub Inspector, Head Constable and Deputy SP do not get the same salary. For most candidates, the most searched post is Sub Inspector in NIA, which is recruited through SSC CGL and comes under Pay Level 6. NIA had vacancies for different ranks including Inspector, Sub Inspector and Assistant Sub Inspector as of June 30, 2025, which shows that these are important working-level posts in the agency.
