Rajasthan Police Constable is one of the most popular state government jobs for candidates who want a secure career in the police department. The post comes with field duty, discipline, public dealing, law-and-order responsibility, and a stable salary structure after probation. Many candidates search for Rajasthan Constable salary because there is a major difference between probation salary and regular salary.

As per the Rajasthan Police Constable recruitment notification, selected candidates receive ₹14,600 fixed remuneration during the two-year probation period, and after that the constable post is placed in Pay Matrix Level-5. The first cell of Rajasthan Pay Level-5 is ₹20,800, which becomes the starting basic pay after probation.

Rajasthan Constable Salary

Rajasthan Constable Pay Scale

Rajasthan Police Constable comes under Pay Matrix Level-5 after successful completion of probation. The starting basic pay is ₹20,800 per month. This basic pay is important because Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other salary components are calculated on it.

During the old pay system, this level was linked with PB-1 and Grade Pay ₹2,400. However, in the present salary system, pay level and pay matrix are used instead of the old grade pay method.

A newly appointed constable does not receive full regular salary from the first month. First, the employee works as a probationer trainee for two years. During this time, fixed remuneration is paid. After probation, the full salary structure starts.

Rajasthan Constable Salary at One Place

The table below gives a practical starting salary estimate after probation. It is based on basic pay of ₹20,800 and DA at 60%. Rajasthan Finance Department revised DA from 58% to 60% with effect from 1 January 2026. HRA is 20% for Y-class cities and 10% for Z-class cities, while CCA varies for Jaipur and other listed cities.

Salary Component Jaipur Ajmer / Bikaner / Jodhpur / Kota Other Places / Z City
Basic Pay ₹20,800 ₹20,800 ₹20,800
Dearness Allowance, 60% ₹12,480 ₹12,480 ₹12,480
House Rent Allowance ₹4,160 ₹4,160 ₹2,080
City Compensatory Allowance ₹620 ₹320 Usually not applicable
Approx. Gross Salary ₹38,060 ₹37,760 ₹35,360
Approx. Deductions ₹2,500–₹3,200 ₹2,500–₹3,200 ₹2,500–₹3,200
Approx. In-Hand Salary ₹35,000–₹36,500 ₹34,700–₹36,200 ₹32,300–₹34,000

These figures are approximate. The final in-hand salary may change because of deductions, place of posting, insurance recovery, RGHS subscription, GPF/GPF-2004, loan recovery, income tax and department-level rules.

Salary During Probation Period

During probation, Rajasthan Police Constable gets fixed remuneration of ₹14,600 per month. This is not the full regular salary. Usually, regular allowances like DA, HRA and CCA are not added during probation.

This is a very important point for candidates. Many aspirants calculate salary directly from Pay Level-5 and expect ₹35,000-plus from the first month. In reality, the regular salary starts only after two years of probation, once the candidate is confirmed as per rules.

The credited amount during probation may also be slightly lower after any applicable deductions. So, candidates should treat ₹14,600 as fixed remuneration, not full regular salary.

Rajasthan Constable In-Hand Salary

After probation, the in-hand salary of Rajasthan Police Constable generally comes around ₹32,000 to ₹36,500 per month at the starting level.

A constable posted in Jaipur may get a higher in-hand amount because Jaipur has Y-city HRA and higher CCA. Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kota also get Y-city HRA, but the CCA amount is slightly lower. In other towns, rural areas and Z-category places, HRA is lower, so the in-hand salary also becomes lower.

This is why two constables with the same basic pay may receive different monthly salaries.

Gross Salary vs In-Hand Salary

Gross salary is the total amount before deductions. In-hand salary is the amount credited to the bank account after deductions.

For example, if a constable posted in Jaipur has a gross salary of around ₹38,060, the in-hand salary may come around ₹35,000 to ₹36,500. In a Z-category area, the gross salary may be around ₹35,360, and in-hand salary may come around ₹32,300 to ₹34,000.

Deductions may include RGHS, insurance, GPF or GPF-2004 and other recoveries. Income tax may not be very heavy at the starting level, but it depends on total annual income and tax rules.

Main Allowances Given to Rajasthan Constable

The first major allowance is Dearness Allowance. DA protects employees from inflation. At 60% DA, a constable with ₹20,800 basic pay receives ₹12,480 as DA.

The second important allowance is House Rent Allowance. In Y-class cities, HRA is 20% of basic pay. In Z-class cities, it is 10% of basic pay. Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kota are listed as Y-class cities, while other places generally fall under Z category.

The third allowance is City Compensatory Allowance. For employees drawing basic pay up to ₹23,100, CCA is ₹620 in Jaipur and ₹320 in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Kota. Other places usually do not get this allowance.

Apart from these, police personnel may get other department-specific benefits depending on duty type, posting and government rules. These may include uniform-related benefits, medical facilities, leave benefits and welfare support.

Salary Growth and Increment

After joining regular pay, Rajasthan Police Constable gets annual increment as per the pay matrix. When basic pay increases, DA and HRA also increase because both are linked with basic pay.

Salary also improves whenever the Rajasthan government revises DA. Over a few years, even without promotion, the salary grows through annual increment and DA hike.

Promotion gives a bigger career jump. A constable can move to higher ranks such as Head Constable, Assistant Sub-Inspector and further posts, depending on departmental rules, vacancies, seniority, exams and service record.

Why Rajasthan Constable Salary Is Considered Good

Rajasthan Police Constable salary is considered good because it gives long-term stability. The probation salary is modest, but after probation the salary becomes decent for a state government field job.

The job also gives social respect, uniform service, government benefits and career security. It is not an easy desk job. A constable may have to work during festivals, elections, emergencies, VIP duty, night patrolling and public order situations. Still, for candidates who want a secure government job with responsibility, Rajasthan Police Constable is a strong career option.
